my first monte carlo
I've always loved this line of cars, and I just got one an 04, silver, automatic monte carlo with 43k miles, for 8350$ , not the best deal, but below BB value, so we lived with it. it's a nice car, but i'm very much into car audio, and i know very little about this car's inner workings.
I know thus far that to add an after market deck, as I plan to, i'll require a modual to mentain warning chimes and stuff. I'm completly at a loss as to the door pannel speakers, i've worked with only my old car really, and the door pannels were quite simple, the monte carlo has many parts, the sail pannel is connected all around the door pannel, whitch seems like quite a pain int he ***...the speakers almost seem accessible via the grill of the speaker, whitch might be removable directly with out removing the door pannel.
the car has the premium sound system, it almost appears to me they have tweeters down by the woofers, i'm not entierly sure. it would be nice, since the speakers i have are 6.5" 2 way comp's that'll work nicely with that, i'll be able to mentain stock appearance. the rear has 6x9", whitch i plan to drop my other set of 6.5 comp speakers into, with a bracket. i've really only found plastic brackets, i'd like a metal one if anyone knows any that they've used please let me know
for now, i leave you with an image of my new baby enjoy, she sparkels like the sun
as for the system in mind..i already pretty much have the parts.
deck - eclipse cd7200 mkII (probobly changing to a Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD)
speakers - JBL c608GTI mkII's front and rear
amps - alpine PDX 4.150, alpine PDX 1.1000
these are parts I already have and plan to put into the car, in one way or another might change some parts. but not required.

Welcome to the site. I'm not too knowledgeable on car audio. I know there are a couple of members on this site that have some great stereo builds.

yeah, i'm going to have to take a look around the forum.
oh and I did mention it, but it has 43k miles.
the only thing that worrys me about this car is the tranny, i've heard some bad things about it, i wish it wasn't automatic, i've heard the auto tranny is really bad. :-\ but it's just such a nice car. and roomy beyond belief for a coupe, took me and 4 friends out last night, and piled them all in and sitll was pretty roomy. anyhoo, more pictures
