Monte Carlo Competition
So... I was just thinking. Besides the Ford Mustang, what other cars are direct competition for our Monte Carlos.
Not necessarily in the performance category, don't exclude it though either, but just as a car in general. Give it some thought.
The Monte has:
- Supercharger or V8 power.
- Heated leather seats.
- Dual climate control.
- 2-doors. (that's important in this comparison)
- DIC (Driver Information Center) inc. Temp, compass, MPG, Average speed, etc.
- Steering wheel mounted audio controls.
- Satellite radio.
- OnStar.
- Multi-disc MP3.
- Remote Start.
- TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor System).
- AUX input (06-07 models / 6.5 gens lol)
And I'm sure I'm leaving some things off this list. So try to find some similar vehicles. 4-doors are OK, but try to keep it to 2-door cars 2004-ish and newer. List what the car you find might have over the Monte too; pics and links are nice additions!
Good luck! lol I've tried and there aren't many cars that meet or exceed these items, at least not under $20K (another good requirement). Happy hunting...

Yes and no, in my opinion. I personally don't think they're going after the same demographic of car buyers and they're pretty much 4-door versions of the Monte Carlo, not really competitors.
Yes, only because they have similar or the same features, but that falls back on being almost the same car.

Eclipse GT 3.8L six Spd
Hi `Ted,
Great Topic Thread
I think the Mitsubishi Eclipse GT would be in
competition with the Monte Carlo SS
It has a 3.8 L & all the features you posted above.
A beach friend I know has a 07 GT with six speed,
& it kicks great 4 a FWD. I still would rather have

I would like to say the new Honda Accord Coupe and the new Nissan Altima Coupe. They are a little smaller than the Monte but horsepower wise they are up there 260 or 275. If I was in need of replacing my DD (I will only buy a coupe) it would be one of these cars.

Yeah, I really love the style of the Mustang GT/CS (California Special). A white one just like that parks in the train station I go to for work some times. It's a great looking car.
What about the new Hyundai Genesis coupe? Similar features and price. My girlfriend really wants one. I hope she gets one and lets me drive it!

What about the BMW 3-Series coupe? However, it's way out of the price range...
You can get them used for a decent price, but the maintenance cost of a BMW is outrageous. No thanks!
