Default Looking for monte ss

i used to have a 2007 grand prix gxp and loved the car, but me being 6'6 it was a chore to get in and out of a 4 door. so i sold it.

Nowim looking to get into a 7th gen monte ss basically the same car in a nut shell except its a 2 door, which should be a lot more friendly for me.

my question is this: what are some things to look for in these cars? like some obvious issues they had that maybe i dont know about? i know about the common trans issues, but dont know of much else. any input would be appreciated.
i couldve cared less about issues before, but now i have a 7 month old daughter and dont wanna get into a car full of problems. thanks in advance guys. my kid will only be with me once in a while in the monte being as the wife has the family vehicle, and she gave me the go ahead for a 2 door again

Im not as familiar with 7th gens. But I just had to come in here and give you a hand for getting wife to agree to a two door. Im never letting go of my coupe. Only thing that needs four doors is a suv IMO.

Look for rust along the back fenders. Of course look at the trans like you said.

Don't know much about rust in these as I'm in Texas, but my '06 had outer tie rod issues and the steering shaft had to be replaced...mine was right at 100K when I bought it. When you test drive it, watch out for a "clunking" feeling in the wheel when you turn, esp right hand turns. I always feel the inner wheel wells for rubber, check the fronts lol....I'd ask to see records for service, esp on higher mileage cars. I think you'll love the 7th gen, it's a hell of a car! The torque steer takes some getting used to but it's actually fun now!

Welcome to the forum!

check on eBay I got a low miles one about a month and a half ago and it's really a part of me now lol ...

im getting alinged today --- my spoiler is a little loose but besides that it's damn near brand new !

our trans have the upgraded 460t (???) transmission so it's pretty good for these cars --- mine takes off like a rocket , and i'm used to RWD V8's and high output v6's .... the 5.3 montes are no joke its a beast good luck in your quest !

Trans is 4T65-HD

and no, it's not sufficient for these cars. Didn't stop me from buying mine, but beware:
