Hi all new to the forum. I found a low mileage 1996 Monte Carlo online at a dealership. 58,000 original km (Canada). 3400 v6 engine. Looks like it has everything except leather seats and it is NOT an ss. Is it a good idea to buy one this old? Checked the carfax and all looks good.

Lack of driving can be a problem, but at least it has some miles. Does the carfax give any indication of how the miles were accumulated based on service records? 1000ish a year would be better than 30000 in the first 3 years, then sitting to rot for the next couple decades.
Any indication as to why it sat?
I'd be suspicious of all rubber that hasn't been replaced, and I'd check all seals for external leakage (keeping in mind it may have just been scrubbed clean for sale) after test driving. And I'd also check for proper operation of the trans under a variety of conditions.
