long time to start
hey guys i have another issue, it takes while for me to start my car, the starter just keeps going and going for about 6 or 7 seconds until it starts.
a few weeks ago it also started to stall out when i was at a light or something, and and felt like it was choking when i was driving. i got an auto zone engine light check and they said i need a MAF, i picked one up from a junk yard and got rid of the choking and stall problem and was hoping it would fix the starting problem but it did not, then someone recommended i change the iac?
id rather ask you guys than all these retarded mechanics I'm dealing with ...
thanks

Check fuel pressure with a mechanical gauge - if you're losing fual pressure when the car sits off, you will have to crank it for a while.
Another thing you can try to test this is self priming the fuel system. Before you start the car, turn the key to run a few times. you will hear the fuel pump come on to prime the system. If the car starts right up after this, odds are you are losing fuel pressure.

Ive noticed a similar problem myself. I have an 05 monte carlo, 3.4. this could be a fuel related issue. also, you may try cleaning your throttle body. some techs spray inside the housing with spray and use an old toothbrush. the way i do it is to soak a rag in brake cleaner, and hold the throttle plate open, and wipe the inside of the housing as far and as well as you can. that is the quickest cheapest fix before you go just replacing everything you see.
