Default Leaky Sun-Roof?

For the past year or 2 my montes has had a little bit of a leak in the roof. First time I noticed it was a day after my car had sat in the rain, took a corner and a few drops of water came out of the DIC. When I inspected it I noticed the roof rails were peeling up a little bit towards the front, so i put some RTV under them and the problem was solved for a few months, or so it seemed. Since then its been very intermittent, it could pour for a few days and nothign gets inside, or it might rain for an hour and the little slot (lighter/pen holder?) next to the shifter is full of water.

Well about 3 days ago I noticed a lot of water inside after it had rain so i climbed out and spent about 45 min looking for the source. I can't even imagine what the customers at walmart thought... That kids been staring at his roof for half an hour.... He's probably on acid. Anyways I noticed my sunroof sitting at a slight angle, with the front of it sitting slightly higher than the rear, maybe an 1/8in. and it looked like it wasnt making a good seal. Now I've only opened the sunroof in my car on about 10 different occasions, and I've owned it since 06, the thing opens and closes just fine, no dry rot on the weather stripping or anything.

Now if you guys dont mind helping me out could you go have a look and tell me if that slight lean is normal. If it isnt, how can I fix this damn leak without removing/replacing my sun roof and with as little RTV as possible.

I'm having the same issue with my Monte Carlo. Did you ever figure out what was causing this issue?

Where are you actually finding the water? Is it on the interior roof panel, a seat, the floor?

If it's on the passenger side foot well, it's probably not your roof. I had water on my passenger side foot well and followed the info in the link below (super easy and cheap fix, seriously, did this on my Monte and the wife's Impala, took like 5-10 minutes and $4 a car):

Hope this helps.

If its filling up the overhead display than its likely your windshild, check to see if ur headliner gets wet by the windshield & not the sunroof

It is the overhead display that is filling up with water, and then it leaks through the buttons and the display. I will check the headliner and see if it is wet the next time it does it.

My 2006 Monte has developed this same leak. Did you ever find out where the leak is and have you been successful in repairing it?

Thanks for any info!

Mike
