Last Year for the Monte

RE: Last Year for the Monte
Current plans call for the Monte Carlo to be produced at Oshawa Car Assembly Plant #1 until December 2007 . At that time Plant #1 will be closed for one month to allow movement of all equipment to Plant #2. Once the move is complete, only the Impala and the Lacrosse / Allure will begin production again, thus ending production of the[X(] Monte Carlo[X(] and Grand Prix. Plant #1 will begin being retooled for Zeta platform capability.
It appears the Monte Carlo will go on hiatus after the 2008 model year.
I could not find any information to confirm if the Monte will be listed as a 2008 or 2007 ? Also, I still don't know if it will be classified as a 7th generation or remain as a revised 6th generation. The more 2006 - 2008 Monte's produced, the more future parts for the revised Monte.
I think GM Brass have been Smok'in Zomething `Amen - Space

RE: Last Year for the Monte
Well it sure looks like the 07 possibly 08 model will be the end of this run for the Monte but I'm sure it will re-appear somewhere down the road. Even though the Monte isn't a huge seller for the Chevy brand I stll think there will be some (Me for sure) that wants a semi-full sized car in eye catching 2 door styling.
Somewhere in these forums, sombody posted the overall production numbers for GM products. I think the comparisons were for 2005 vs 2006 models. The Monte showed a 20% increase. Funny that the increase happened when they finally introduced some V8 power to the thing. I still think the biggest problem with the Sales has been the lack of promotion. A lot of the comments I have received on my Montes have come from people that you can tell, don't even know what company builds the car. Its like they have never been exposed to it and never seen one before.
Oh well, guess we just have to wait until the marketing gurus think the world is ready for this type of car again, and I'm sure the Monte will ride again.
