Default lagging speedometer

Today on my lunch break I hustled to my car and drove away to grab some food and I noticed that the speedometer needle was "lagging" when accelerating and coming to a stop. Its like 12 degrees or less right now in Iowa I guess and I assumed that was to blame as my engine was noticeably louder and I didnt warm my car up before taking off. I kept it running after I got home for about 20 minutes or so hoping that it would warm up and it would go back to normal but it didnt. I did not notice this problem this morning on the way to work when it was colder,, or any other cold time before this.

is it probably just the cold weather? or could something be going out coincidently on a cold day? lol i just want it to be working like it should. Its probably nothing but as I was backing out of my parking space on break I kinda scraped the bottom of my front bumper on the curb as I got a little too close this morning. That wouldnt have anything to do with it though, would it? (I have no idea how that system works and where the parts are located.)

Everything is "known to be defective" eventually. They couldn't make money if they fixed it all for free.

A shop will replace the whole cluster. Took mine back to the dealer under warranty and that's what they did.
