Default Key won't turn past off!??!!

Hey I had my 2003 Monte Carlo LS out in the city yesterday, drove to the street we chill on and parked, it idled for about 20 minutes just to keep it warm but then I jumped in my buds car so I turned it off and locked the doors, we chilled for a good two hours and when we went to leave I unlocked the door, jumped in and put the key in and it would not turn! My door binger would bing with the key in and the door open but it would not turn past off! It was in park, but my steering wheel was not locked, we tried a different key, tried playing with the steering wheel and even unhooked the battery for 10 mins but to no success. So it is sitting there still and I am trying to figure out what to do or if I should be getting a tow truck, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much
