Same here.. It can get tricky to match paint sometimes, particularly if it's faded. Also, your car would look good with a hood scoop. The "Front Wheel Drive" part we can keep secret, since I've never known a FWD car to have a hood scoop..

The 1991 Cavalier Z24 I used to have, had functional hood scoops.

Interesting.. It must have had ducting that went from the hood into the throttle body. I bet it probably got in the way whenever you had to work on the engine though. I've only guessing- since I've been around RWD cars almost all of my life- that is until I got the Monte.. Heck, even my parents' new Buick Lucerne and their 2-year old Toyota Avalon are both FWD. You would think cars of that size would be RWD.. but they aren't.. Sadly, I have to park next to the American made Sushi car while the Buick gets the garage. Even though it was recalled (and fixed), I have yet to have that car accelerate out of control though.

It was actually reverse induction. Two scoops with the openings facing rearward. The air was channelled to the canister-style air intake. The air intake had an hole in the top of it, that mated up with a rubber gasket attached to the underside of the hood. It wasn't the most effective. Probably only good for about 1-3 hp at best. It was the 3.1 multi-port FI engine. If that gives you an idea.

I have pictures of the engine, but they were taken on a film camera, and I never scanned them into the computer. I quickly tried to find an engine picture on google, but it only gave results of modded engines.

Ah, I see. It sounds like the ducting in the hood mated up to an opening that went into the air intake. When the hood is closed, the two meet, form a seal, and air can get from the hood into the throttle body.

Will get some good pics than to post. But I leave for my car show tomorrow afternoon. I will be taking some good complete vid of my car at the show in show form..
