Default Intimidator Wheels

Hey all

It has been a log time for me i know...a crazy thing called life.

anyway my beautiful 04 intimidator which i still love. although ill trade it in a heartbeat for a new camaro....thats another post hehe

the rims i love the stock wheels the chrome is peeling and bubbling on the inside of the rim (outside looks great) anyway its causing tire seal issues the tire store says i need new rims or i will continually have seal issues.

bottom line i want to keep the stock intimidator rims... dealer says 764.00 a piece so 764 x 4 is wowsers!

Where can i find some or what can i do to fix it?

any ideas

I see the diamond cut wheels on ebay a lot. They are listed from $500 - $700 or so for a set.

You can have them stripped and rechromed. Search google for wheel repair in your area. I think there's a place called wheel america that has locations all over. But I don't know anything about them to be able to recommend them or not

I had a friend fix my sealing problem at a local Ford garage... go figure. He's just a great mechanic. Anyway he took the tire off the rim and hit it hard with a rust and paint stripping sanding wheel and brought it down to the bare metal. He then put some black rubber sealant on and it worked great afterward. Had to go twice because he underestimated it the first time.

I know for bead sealing issues I have painted the wheel bead before and that took care of any leak downthe tire had.

Even aluminum (oh, I mean alloy) wheels can develop corrosion on the bead. A coat of paint on the wheel bead and the tire always sealed up for me.
