Jimmy, I wrote down everything you suggested and i will be asking those questions. Thank you very much. I'll post the "answers" he gives me here. Also, if i like what i hear i am going tomorrow to look at it, one hour drive. I will take pictures of everything and anything in that car. He offered to jack it up as well to "test" the posi and also so i can see the frame and such. And 77gp That is what I'm thinking. I'm not buying this for a show car, and i wont be putting thousands and thousands into it. Im turning this into a "decent' daily. My commutes are no longer than 15 minutes anywhere I go so gas is no HUGE issue.

So i spoke to the guy tonight, he now mentions it needs a brakeline, battery, and the "surface rust" is now a hole in the quarter panels. Im awaiting on the VIN he's going to text me but as of now it looks like I'm going to pass on this. Is there a way for the administrators on this board to change the title of the thread and make it a log? im thinking this might be a good guide for anyone buying a 4th gen.

the entire rear end is rotted. Horribly. I'm giving up on this one. Its hard because im completely carless at the moment. My wife and i just share our 04 stratus. the search continues I guess. I've had a rough few years (07-2010) and I'm kind of rewardign myself by driving a car I've always wanted, I dont think thats too much to ask for lol. But I'm gonna keep searching. Hopefully I find a good one. Im dying for a 86-88 ss. the only other one Id want is a 78 with a 350

Not sure what your budget is or how far you can travel but this seems like a decent car...

Hi, I am new to the board and I see that this is a very old post. But I am so happy that I found this post. I am trying to find the vin number on the engine of my 2001 monte carlo. Would this be the appropriate spot on the engine for the 2001?

Thanks,
Susan
