I have a 1984 MC SS that i inherited from my uncle. The paint is nearly gone, and several touch ups throughout its life were not up to par. Am i goi g to ruin the value of the car by repainting it. It is in need of minor body work for dings dents and scratches also.

 

I'm certainly no expert on old car values, but I'd think if the paint is already in poor shape and it has been poorly touched up, then you wouldn't ruin the value with a fresh repaint.

Big thing I'd suggest is taking a handful of pictures of the progress (especially post-strip) so you can prove the car wasn't repainted to hide a poorly done body repair or an inch of bondo filling a giant rust issue.
