I now have 29K. It's nearing the big schedule maintenance day.

On my 2003 Monte Carlo SS, before it was wrecked, it had 67,000 miles.
No problems with the Monte Carlo for the 13,000 miles I owned it.

My new Camaro, a 2001 Z28, has 41,000 miles.
No problems yet.

06ss 43,000
80 maybe about 12000 on the 406 speedo is way off on account of the tire height so odometer is off but 12ish is a estimate.

1,000,000 miles on a Chevy Silverado...
I remember this story and I would like to add...he has not rebuild the engine yet. That is 1 million miles on the same unrebuild engine...got to love the TBI engine.

Now to the topic of the thread....I got the Monte in Aug of 09 with 104k and it now has 105k.

Major problems...well most I can't say are the car's fault just the moron/s that worked on her before I got her. I think they should leave the wrenching to someone that knows what a wrench is.
I have replaced the motor mount with a solid rubber one. Replaced the supercharger pulley tenioner because they put a 3.4 pulley belt on it and the s/c had a 3.8 pulley. Tranny pan gasket...get this they just gobbed abunch of RTV on it and called it good. So when I went to change it...it didn't even have a gasket. Brakes, rotors, and fixed a sticky caliper (those some clowns that did the tranny pan also used an impact on the caliper bolts...that was fun watching a 25 inch breakover bar flex trying to get them out. Also one bolt was twisted in there and they had the wrong bolts). I didn't know at the time but it probably didn't need new brakes and rotors but it felt like it had a warped rotor. While changing my brakes and rotors I noticed a bent trailing arm. So I got a new set from ZZP sitting in the living room waiting for me to get time and it not to be raining to change those. It seems the more I do to this car the more I find that needs to be fixed.

Who works on my headache...errr Monte...Me and My friends because they know more about these cars then I. But I also share my garage and tools, house, yard for dogs to them so they can work on their stuff as well and I also help them. So Chevy Commando's garage is always open to help.

How many miles to you have on your Monte Carlo ? (Please post)
About 96,000 on the body- trans has about 70,000 (just used the trans from the swap car until I had time to build one), engine has about 2,000.

What problems have you had with your
Monte Carlo ? Please post
The common turn signal blinker 5th gen thing; alternator, water pump (both on the old engine), and the LIM gasket failure just before the swap (excluding normal maintenance items)- since the swap- I've had no problems that I haven't caused myself (ie getting wires mixed around, improperly sealed gasket, bad aftermarket part, etc)- basically no reliability problems since the swap.

Please contain year & engine
in your post.
1996, 3100/4t60 for the first 95,000 or so, 3800SC/4t65hd for the last 2,000 or so

Do you do your own work on your
Monte ?
Yes, definitely- wouldn't have it any other way!

171,340 km's rear sway bar links, turn signal bulb, a ground wire for abs unit, right front wheel bearing, nothing bad yet and I am my cars only mechanic. I used to work for a place that did emissions testing and they let me drive the car on the dyno for the test still. lol

I keep it pretty clean under the hood, not show worthy or nuthin but seems like a waste i'm the only guy that ever opens it and thats every 2,500 km's either to check the oil or change the oil.

did lots of maintenance stuff like trans service, plugs wires pcv, thermostat, brakes.

I've got about 153,000 miles on my 01 SS 3.8.
Since I've owned it: replaced cat, T-stat, temp sensor, LIM gasket, Upper IM gasket, valve cover gaskets, lifters, cv shafts. Previous owner has done too much to list.
I do all my own work. It helps when you have access to a lift, air tools and I can get most parts at cost!
