right now my steering is loose and its honestly quite hard to keep it in between the lines, i tightened the gear box but would like to see if anyone has any other tricks to make steering stiffer on older cars.

I have a 85 monte SS, stock 305, all the help and ideas anyone has is much appreciated, thanks!

 

I would definately check the drag link!....Thats 1 of the first things to go bad when you feel your steering is wandering.....and also check the ends on the center link...Might as well check those tierod ends also...while your at it...This is common on "older" model vehicles...and dont forget to get the front end aligned...when you replace those front end parts...
You shouldnt have to tighten up the steering box...after those repair are made...

That should cure the problem...
