Question

I have had the Monte for about a month now. I have, maybe, put a couple hundred miles on it (actually mostly my daughter drove it when her car was unavailable).
Previous owner serviced the car every 3K with Valvoline 10W30 only. The car was his baby so he was religious with it's maintenance.
Currently, the car has 225K on it. I have an Oil Analysis kit from Blackstone Labs. In the next couple of weeks, I will have a sample of the oil tested. Will be interesting to know how well the oil is holding up with this many miles on the car using conventional (non synthetic) oil. Next question I will have (hopefully Blackstone can give me guidance) is, since the car will now be sitting a lot, what oil works best in that situation? Conventional, Synthetic, Blend? If I was driving a lot, then the answers are out there, but what is best if a high mileage car that sits a lot? Does conventional or synthetic cling to the metal the best over time?

nice to so many monte carlos still on the road.
i have 310,000 on my 2002 LS with the 3.4l. other than replacing head gaskets last fall it still runs good. i use it as my work car. all i use is regular 5w30 oil and either wix or acdelco filters on it. the body is a little rusty an banged up a little but still runs great.
my 2004 SS intimidator has 186,000 on it. same thing just change the oil every 3.000 miles and use good oil and filters.

215,000 - 2003 SS. Recently replaced transmission, brake rotors and pads. Starting to use a little oil. Have had car about ten years. Had less than 70K miles on it when I bought it. Owes me nothing. Has had intake gaskets and pan gasket replaced. Otherwise routine maintenance.
11/7/2019 edit
Totaled mine yesterday. Won't be racking up any more miles. Am going to miss that car.

Highest 07 in existence? I think so.
This has the original 3.5L V6 flex fuel engine and transmission. Hey GM - fix up a few things for me and I will take it to 500K... I love this car! Since only 10,889 were produced in '07, I believe this is the highest mileage car for the last year in existence,
