196K here. Thought I had high mileage until I read this thread. Bought car 9+ years ago with 70,000 on it. 2 sets of tires, struts once, replaced original plugs at 169,000 (still has orig wires and coils), 2 catalytic converters, intake gasket, front rotors twice, rears once, both front hubs, fuel gauge sending unit - oh, and a radio. Daily driver, used for commuting for 6 years.

I've been going to the Ford dealer, where I bought the 02 Monte SS, and they use a Motorcraft filter and Motorcraft synthetic blend, inspect and rotate the tires, measure the brakes and wash the car for $39.95. I like the Motorcraft filter they have an anti-drain back valve that helps lube the timing chain on startup. I was shopping at Wallyworld and bought Mobil 1 High Mileage was on sale for $22.88 for a five gallon jug for my next oil change, think I'm staying with the Motorcraft filter or splurge for a Mobil 1 filter. I have 112,00 on my 2002.

150k here. Bought the car 3 years ago and it had roughly ~128k on it. Needs some work done to get her in 100% shape, leaky oil pan gasket and leaking power steering gear are the two main ones. Other than that she runs great and my 1.9 rockers and 3.6" pulley make her scoot around nicely

Looks like a cut and paste thing but need correcting, being as I am ASE Certified I know what it means.

Default My first post for high milage Montes

Hey ya'll. Greetings from South Carolina. I purchased a 2002 MC SS on July the first. This is my 3rd Monte. My first was a 2000 SS that I got from the original owner in 2013 that only had 39,000 miles. My second was a 2007 SS, and now my 2002 SS which has a little over 275K. I was skeptical when I saw the Craig's List add, but the interior was in excellent condition. Tan leather with no tears or rips and good carpet. The car drives nicely, but does have a small valve cover gasket leak. It the paint is Dark Toreador Metallic and looks good from a distance. Really needs a good compounding/polishing/waxing.

I just have to know (for obvious reasons): why do you no longer have the 07?

Default 2002 Monte Carlo SS

My car now has over 190,000 miles, and it still runs as nicely as the day I bought it. Actually, because it has a new, reinforced upper and lower intake manifold, it now performs even better in some regards. I generally follow the owner's manual, and I plan on pushing my vehicle to at least 250,000 miles, if not 300,000 miles. Nevertheless, I still welcome other owners' input.
My car now has 241,000 miles. I also switched to synthetic oil, which works better.

Got it in 2013 with 52,000. It's been my daily and vacation and everything else. Emptied the cat out, have leak in him, , sun roof sticks, gas leak, need front hubs, time to redo brakes, little rust around left rear wheel well, getting ready to spring refresh
doing work myself, or should i get a less beat up one and start over?

I would keep the car and fix the most important things first, like the gas leak. I bought mine at 100,000 and did a item at a time brakes and rotors, fuel pump, new front hubs that I did not need, it was a $20 wire, plugs, wires, battery, tires, turn signal and transmission filter and fluid.I think most the Monte Carlos have the drivers rear wheel well rust spot. If you take your time and stick a few dollars in at time, you can drive for another hundred thousand miles.
