Default HID for running lights?

I'm thinking of installing an DDM HID kit for my low beams. The low beams come as running lights so wouldn't this be too bright and put a lot of use/stress on my system?

The low beams come on as the running lights on your 2005? On my 2004, the high beams come on at half power as the daytime running lights.

They come on in mine too- that is until I yanked the DRL relay out.. I thought it was putting an extra pull on the alternator that didn't really need to be there. No SES light, and I still have the automatic headlights.

Default 05 ruinning lights

ok, which panel is that relay behind? Just no service engine light or daytime 1/2 power low beams for running lights? Parking lights at the first click and lights on at the second click remain the same?

Thanks

The panel is under the hood. There are 2 fuse boxes behind and above the battery. It is in the top one I believe. If you look for the one labeled "DRL Relay" and pull that out, the DRLs should go off and you shouldn't get any SES light or messages in the Info. Center. I think this trick only works on 2005 Montes though. I guess the fact that the low beams are used instead of the highs might have something to do with it.. The automatic headlights should remain functional too. Also the headlight switch will also continue to function normally.
