Default Hard Steering

I just replaced the power steering pump on my 2001 LS, it was making a whining noise after my low pressure line blew and was repaired. Now with the new pump it still makes the noise and steers hard at low speeds. I have bled the line both times.

The low pressure line is now shorter then the original factory line.

The new pump is from autozone, did I get a bad pump from them or do I have a problem with the rack or power steering lines?

I spoke to autozone and I could have a defective pump, so I'll take it out Saturday morning and get a replacement.

I hope this will fix the problem.

When you bled the PS did you rotate the steering from left to right stops several times to purge all the air out of the rack?

Update!

I put in the new pump and Carl's steering is better than ever. There has been a bad run of these pumps. Before I jacked it up to bleed the pump, it already made a difference. Well my system definitely has a nice flush with clean fluid now.

Its time to go take the bike out now. Its going to be in the 70s and sunny in upstate NY today!

Good day all!
