Default Got my car back... New Transmission

So after a long, expensive, boring couple of days... I got my Monte back

For the past like... 2 years, as some may know, I've had multiple issues with my transmission... I guess typical for a car with 160,000 miles on it. Torque converter was shot, slamming me around with hard shifts, the line pressure solenoid was acting up... It just wasn't a luxurious ride for a while. I finally was able to get a good used transmission put in, got a nice warranty and even got myself the upgrade to Dexron VI transmission fluid.

All I can say is WOW, it's seriously like driving a new car again. After a while of poor shifts, I was way too used to it, and now the car seems weird :P

And since I put all that money into it... I decided to pay it back with a good washing and clay barring, and I might as well have a few pictures too, right? The quality is sucky because I didn't think to bring my camera up to my parents, so the blackberry's will have to do.

But yay for having a new transmission, and now I can finally start saving up to do some actual modifications that will enhance my car, and not just make my transmission fail more!

Arrow Super Look'in Monte 4-Sure

Hi `Mike,
Happy 2 read that you got your trans fixed, plus
got it all cleaned `up.
Your Monte sure does not look like it has over 160K miles
on it.
What major items have been replaced, or have given
your problems ?
Wish you another 160K miles + in your awesome looking
Monte Carlo SS

I've had various issues with it. And thanks, I know it doesn't look like it's going to be 9 in May.

Several water pumps, transmission, the front cradle actually broke on me, 2 wheel hub assemblies, struts and mounts... I can't think of any of the other large expenses... I do remember watching it get towed out of my garage one day, but I can't remember what that was for right now...

Next up is the downpipe+high-flo cat though. I really really think my cat is clogged, but I'm not throwing any codes. I just really feel like the flow is horrible during acceleration and I feel the u-bend / cat is a major contributor there.

But I have to get the inspection next month, so after they give me my sticker i'll mess with that so if i throw codes before i get my custom tune I can't fail emissions

I also want to not spend my money before they rob me of something in my inspection...

Arrow Thanks!

Hi `Mike,
Thanks for answering the questions I asked.
That's really not that many problems for a Monte that was driven
approx. 18K miles a year for about 9 years : )

I think U R also wise to wait until after inspection to do any
mod's/changes.
I think you post information will help other members that have
lower miles, and give them some idea on what 2 look for.

Wish you many more safe/fun miles in your SS.
