Thumbs down

This is not a fix to the problem. I won't bring my car in for this band aid. GM needs to fix this the right way. A lot of weight on a key rind has never been a good idea and has caused problems going a way back, it's not unreasonable to be able to hang the fob and a house key on a key ring not have to worry about hurting on killing yourself or some one else.

Do the right thing GM. Fix the problem, don't do a cheap patch job.

I dread going to the dealer for anything. It's not just key inserts for a recall, my local Chevy store never has parts. I swear the parts department gets a part request then bids on it in an eBay auction, trying to get the lowest price on it and then charge list price.

The power steering recall took a week to get the part.
A leaking AT pipe seal? Kept it overnight. 2 days.
Starter. 2 days. A STARTER for a 3.5

I had a Ford Expedition shod with the recalled Firestone tires. Drive in, ask about making an appointment and they took it on the spot. 5 new tires in 40 minutes.

And GM wonders why people are blase about the recall - GM Uses Social Media, Phone Calls to Get Recalled Cars Fixed

It's not the dealers fault that the parts are scarce. Delphi is working overtime to pump out as many parts as they can. That is why it is taking so long for some dealers to get the parts.

Got another letter today, says the parts (2 16 mm key rings) are available!

Plus this added bonus, a supplement to the owners' manual.

I just got that too. There going to use a plastic insert in to the ignition. Not on mine I will skip this its just a band aid not a fix.
