i was getting close to 600kms on a gas tank on my 2002 monte carlo and now im only getting around 450?
what the hell is that all about lol
anyone have or had this problem
what could be wrong?

 

Funny you bought this up. I filled up with gas yesterday and noticed something weird. Every time I filled up with gas, the overhead info display read that I had over 600 km range till I run out of gas. Yesterday,it said I only had about 450 km.
Had me wonderingalso. I'd like to hear the explanation also.

Maybe a conspiracy against Canadians becuase our dollar is worth more than the US dollar going on three weeks now?

 

Even my 06 seems to have the same issue but reversed. Ill fill the car up. Drive home, the DIC will say 600km to empty. Ill go out the next morning and drive to work and it doesnt budge for 50-60 kms then will slowly begin to tick down. When I go on highway trips, the dic will increase to 744kms after an hour or so of driving. The Dic isnt accurate in the first place and is probably just a best guess. There is a lot of factors that have to do with it.

Something wierd I noticed...

WheneverI work on Crystal, I make it a habit of disconnecting the battery. I notice when i reconnect the battery tho, That the car feels like it has more guts and I seem to get better fuel economy. The only logical thing I can think of is the PCM is gets used to my driving and adapts to it.. But I dont think the car has that ability.. Does anyone know?
