Fuel cutoff
I was coming home from school yesterday and I decided to punch it a couple of times on the interstate just for fun. The last time, there was an acura TL coming up behind me and I thought id play with it a bit. I floored it and I saw him punch it but he never did catch up to me. We stayed about the samedistance apartfora while.I was busy looking in my rear view mirror so I wasnt looking at the speedo. I eventually looked down and the needle was pegged and I was still accelerating. My tach was still climing for agood bit afterthe speedowas pegged. Now I was under the impression that the 5th gens fuel cutoff was at 110 but my speedo pegs at 120 and I know Ipushed it past that. Ive been in a TSX before and I know they reach 130 easily. Not sure about the TLs but I would assume they do about the same. I was on the flat so I wasnt accelerating downhill. When fuel finally cut off it was kinda abrubt and jolted the car. I let off after that and coasted down to about 70-80 and the TL went past me. Funny thing was that there was a cop hidden behind a cement barrier on the side of the road and the TL didnt see him. He got pulled over right in front of me, lol. The cop almost pulled out in front of me, never even saw me!
Anyway, my point was this. Did my computer have a little hiccup or something? Ive had it up to 110 before and it kinda just stops accelerating. This time it just kept going. Whats the deal? Im not complaining, I wish it would do that every time.

RE: Fuel cutoff
My car is Rev-Limited. Not fuel limited. I get to a Preset RPM Value and the Ignition will begin to pulsate; keeping the car from going no faster than what Value is set into the limiter.
On my 2004 LS ... the Limiter starts kicking-in about 106-108. I have had it up past 110 ... downhill. So, gravity was working with me keeping the RPM's down.

RE: Fuel cutoff
Are all the monte carlos governed by RPMs? Ithought they were governed by fuel butI could be wrong.I noticed it cut out at about 4300 rpm which is about where the free rev limit is while in park. It could just be a coincidence. Still doesnt explain why it let me go all the way up past 120 then cut out so violently.

RE: Fuel cutoff
Haha dont worry I was slowed down by the time I got to the cop. I saw him ahead of time. Cant say the same for the TL. He had to have still been over 100 when he got pulled over.

RE: Fuel cutoff
i not sure the system was up a bit but my engine seemed to start to cut out at 115 but was accelin still to about 125 before i let off, i think it would have still went if i did not let off. I wooped some modified Nissan 240SX, from a stop at a red light.
