I just bought an 04 SS and it's been a dream come true, However, GM has done so many things right and so many things wrong through the years... The interior of the 07 Monte Carlo looks awesome. The exterior front end is an insult for the name plate. It's a carbon copy of an impala, malibu, any generic Chevy... they put an great engine and finally real climate control (which my 90 olds cutlass had) and lost the body lines and beautiful hood.. What a shame they can't just get it all right.

 

There similar but the monte still looks the best.

 

I agree, while they do look the same, the monte got the wider lower air dam (which i think makes it look lower and "racey"). The grill is one of the things i'm glad they brought back. I really liked the front end of my 96, along with the body lines of my 02. . . so when they came out with the 7th gen. it was kind of a win-win for me. Got the grill, and the distinctive "Monte Carlo" body lines on the fenders. If there's one thing gm did mess up, was that they got rid of the monte crests and script font again
