This is weird, mine are hardly rusting at all, a little discoloration here and there, but that's it....

In what year did aluminum decide that it was going to start rusting?

 

Solara they are not true aluminum but only aluminized.....meaning the aluminum is extremely thin and therefore will chip off or peel first then the mufflers steel will be exposed and start rusting.

Have you ever followed behind a car with a muffler that was painted black but the paint is peeling off? Same principle.

 

i keep a fresh coat of engine paint on mine, adds to the look and helps protect but then again flows are guaranteed for life so i dont really have to worry

 

Doesn't that stink when the muffler gets hot? I'd like to paint mine black.

 

it does for the first little bit until its baked and then u dont smell it anymore

 

Does the paint stay on long?

 

yuppers, it lasts a good long time i only reapply for asthetics
