exhaust rusting

Default exhaust rusting
I know there was a post sometime ago regarding mufflers rusting on 06-07 Montes. I did some research and found out this is due to the exhaust being stainless steel BUT the mufflers being aluminized steel. In other words they are not stainless and will eventually rust. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

Hi James, I think this is the post below. GM did this, so that many customer's
would return in a few yearsto their dealership for replacements, to make some money : ) They cut corner's to save [X(]

so, stainless steel system, then they cheeped out on the mufflers??? wow! crazy!! i would hope they cover these under warranty then..

sure they cover them for 3 years 36K miles whichever occurs first but they won't rust thru before then so you are SOL.

Are you talking exhaust 'pipes' or tubing up to and after the mufflers?

I am asking because my tail pipes are rusting badly.

shoot yeah bring on the flows,....tho they dont make the 40 series anymore

muffler back solara is aluminized
