plugged cat. converter is what it sounds like to me or it is out of time.

what color is the smoke when you do this?

If it is white like steam and your loseing fluid it might be a head gasket or a leak of some kind.

what year is your ride? how many miles? sounds like clogged injectors or a dirty fuel filter. Try filling up on a tank of premium fuel (if you can find a co-signor for the loan to pay for it, that is) and adding a bottle of injector cleaner.

When was the last time it had a tune-up/changed spark plugs?

Could be a cat, an upper intake, a bad coil pack, melted plug wires. Those are the things that jump in my head when ya say shaking. Did this just happen all of the sudden or has it been progreesivly getting worse?

I second this question. If it was a gradual decline I would target the CAT and/or fuel filter as the problem. If the problem started overnight I would look more toward ignition or gasket failure areas.
