As far as I know, all the warning lights are supposed to come on for a second or two to show you the bulb is working. If the light doesn't go out after a couple seconds, then I'd be worried.

That's what we were fixing. Had to replace the seat belt bulb, turn the SES bulb to make contact, but the temp bulb does not illuminate. The bulb is good. The temp gauge works too.

All this to track down why one little bulb won't illuminate...But I like all my gauges and system information to work The bulb is suppose to illuminate at bulb test. The trouble shooting doesn't give many options.1. check bulb and connection2. replace instrument cluster. I performed the test for the gauge:
1. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (gauge) sensor connector.
2. Connect the instrument panel tester tool J 33431-C between the engine coolant temperature (gauge) sensor harness connector terminal C and ground.
3. Set the tester to 44 ohms.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
Only I used a 47ohm resistor to connect terminal C to ground and it Passed.
The gauge rose to HOT and the light lit.
Don't know why it doesn't come on at bulb test but it dose function properly.
