Our cars charcole canister was built well, it can withstand the extra topping off, unlike the canisters in the Blazers/trailblazers that is a death trap to top off

 

 

One of the most important reasons not to top off (that isn't mentioned) is that it will allow fuel to enter the vapor canister. This makes the vapor canister less efficient (Contaminates the charcoal so it needs replacing prematurely) and can fill the passenger compartment with the smell of fuel. Never top off the tank; it's a bad practice.

 

Can the evaporation error have anything to do with car driving and just dying for no reason? My car has issues with pumping gas also.
