I have to agree with others...The insurance probably offered you a decent amount.
Our daily driver Pontiac got hit in December, owned since new in 2010,...
tailites, trunk lid and hidden bumper damage came to $7k...!!!
It was written-off and they paid me out., quite well actually.
But it was really hard to see it go.. it had been maintained far beyond normal.

I'm currently in the process of trying to get my Monte registered as a classic car, and then I'll try to shop around for classic car insurance where I can set an agreed upon value of the car and insure it at that.
I'm afraid something will happen during my rare drives, and the car gets totaled out because it's only valued to my current insurance at like 2,000. IF that.

2003 anomaly?
My 2003 Monte Carlo SS had a miscalibrated odometer from the factory. Everything on the car was standard, including 16" wheels, and I bought the car new. The odometer was off by about 6% over actual mileage. The speedometer was accurate. Basically I said the hell with it and lived with it.
