differences bewtween 2002 monte carlo & 2003 monte carlo SS
I got rear ended on saturday. im feeling some pain but otherwise im ok, but my poor baby suffered the most. i lost my right rear quarter panel, trunk and bumper. had a 149,000 miles. insurance is totaling it out. they are offering me $2600. I laughed at them. i put over $5000 into it over the past two years. tranny, radiator, catalytic converter, front breaks. the car had every option available.
it can be fixed but I have issues wrong. ac stopped working, dashboard looks like a christmas tree and moon roof wont open.
so, i have to get a new car and I found a 2002 monte, with 71,000 miles on it. its a 4.3 with single exhaust. body seems a little beat up but im willing to get it repaired and use the parts that are left over from my current monte.
can someone tell me if all the parts can be interchangable?

I am not sure if your Talking about the 02 being a 3.4 that is the Base MC and Impala line between 00-05. Your post says a 4.3 and I know they have a 4.3 in the Astro Vans and if it did have a 4.3 Even though a High end motor for the Astro wasn't an Options for the Monte Carlo that I know of. And I am not sure I would want to have something with that type of Conversion. Wouldn't be easy trying to buy parts if things were needed.
For the 3.4 base, That is normal MC and IMP with less options. The 3.4 has HP of 180 where the 3.8 SS has a HP 200. Also most times came with Steel wheels with covers for the base and most times the SS had some type of mags.

There was never a 4.3 in these montes. 3400 would be the base model (LS) and 3800 would be the SS
Most body parts should be interchangeable from 00-05 though no matter LS or SS

You might be surprised how many parts are not interchangeable between 2002 and 2003, including several electrical components and the transmission. 2003 was a one off year for that 4T65E transmission and will fit no other year.

That's why it's risky to put that much money in an older used car. Any insurance company is only going to give you the actual market value regardless how much you've personally got into it (unless of course you pay more to insure it for a higher value). Once the value of the car goes below $5k, anything beyond a simple 1 panel fender bender is going to total it immediately.

I can attest to that "one off year" info, discovered it when I was going to top swap to add super charger. Even Spalding told me my options are extremely limited for my 03

Early 2003's differ in many ways from late 2003's. Some of those differences include side impact air bags, shift indicator in the console (or lack there of), seat back release, stereo, fog lights (or lack there of), radiator, transmission (late '03's got the hardened 4th gear clutch hub) and several electrical components and their connector types.

Not only is it a "One off" year, but they changed several components mid-year.

I love my 03 with it's limits and obstacles and all

Don't get me wrong, the '03 SS is a great car. Just a bit different from previous and later model years. Not necessarily good or bad differences, just different.
