Question Christ Almighty! :)

First off, just would like to say I miss this forum! Feels good to finally be back lol I have been away for some time now I feel like a newbie to the 3800 world haha

anyways, I have been in desperate need of another monte! it's weird being in anything else! lol im back in the market on buying another ss but have just a couple questions...I'll start off by saying I'm going to start n/a and I plan on adding boost later down the road. goal is to get her into the high 12s low 13s question now is, are all montes from 01-05 similar? obviously the 04 and 05 come boosted, but if I was to start a build, would it be just as simple on an 01 than an 04 per say? reason I ask is that I'm on a budget for buying the car. 6000 maximum and I cannot find a monte mer newer than 02 for that price without it having a million miles

all input appreciated! thanks

'00-'05 I believe all offered a L36 3800 N/A engine (in '05 an L36 no longer classified as being an SS, you had to have the L67 super charged).

GM has been known to sneak small changes in all there cars. To the best of my knowledge, most, maybe all, mods for an L36 are identical from '00-'05. If there are differences, they should be minimal. Chibi would warn you, the '00 seems like the outcast. GM has some odd ball differences, but again, small and subtle to one who does not know better. But far from a show stopper.

Member 38SSpecial, are you still a bank manager ? If so, do you give auto loans to the dealers in your area ? If so, I would contact them & let them know what you are looking for ? There's some great ones out there for sale `if you really search...Try our sponsor's link

+ sites like Autotrader.com & Cars.com. Good Luck

Try to get an 03+, it will be easier to create a .bin file for a top-swap if you go the top-swap route.

If you are doing a turbo (which would be the easiest way to get into the 12s) then you can get any model year. But I would still lean towards the 2003+ because they changed the transmission slightly

Yep, the 2005 LT is the same as a 2000-2004 SS.

They just added the LT model because ALL SS cars in 2005 were supercharged.
