Yeah but it keeps you coming back to the dealership for servicing. Which is basically the point as far as I can tell. They're always willing to service you.

I really wouldn't consider this much of a design problem. If you have a dead battery, getting a socket set is the least of your worries. We are only talking about 3 bolts that turn very easily here.

Think about if you had one of the new Cadilacs where it is under the back seat....

 

hey, i prefer changing batteries in caddys, bonnevilles, and lesabres.

....seat pops right out, everythings clean, lots of extra space under the seat

Man, you got that right! I had to remove the driver's side stay to get to the darned airbox to replace the air filter which only took me most of the freaking night. The Haynes Manual falls a few steps short when it says: "Remove the two screws and lift out the Box and swap-out the filter." Hey Mr. Haynes ... it takes more than that! But that's History!

Be sure to add a touch of NeverSeize Lube to those three Bolts you'll be removing to get the Bar out of the way. Once you start full-time maintenance and need to get to the Battery and Airbox ... you'll wish Chevy Engineers stuck those babies on there with Velcro!!!

 

it took me 15 seconds to install my K&N on my 03... i took the tubing lose between the box and the throttle body, popped hte two clips, slid it open jsut enoguh to slide the filter out and slide a K&N in... put it back together.. okay, maybe all of a minute....
