A/C Hot when Running, Cool when idle?
Just like the title says. My A/C is acting funny for the past 2 days. When it idles it feels cool but not cold as it used to be. Then when I'm driving it get warm and no cool air comes out. Being that its a 100+ here in the DFW area its not fun at all and there's no end to the heat here.
The only thing I've checked was the ac pressure with one of them freon cans gauges and it read filled. The compressor does engage and the fans do turn on. But the compressor does cycle on/off every so often.
Its an 06 with the 3.9 with 71K miles. Any suggestions? Help!

I tried doing a search earlier tonight but couldn't find anything. It is kinda normal for it to fluctuate between blowing cold and not blowing when at speed and idling, it does it with my 06. I'm sure it's not the answer you want, but is has been discussed before on here!

I've found that those A/C gauges aren't that accurate. I tried using one on mine, and it said it was full also.
What it took was a professional gauge set and a good mechanic.. I had it double checked and it actually needed about 1 1/2lbs. of refrigerant.
Mine used to have this annoying problem where the compressor would shut off under slight acceleration. It shut off at pretty much any time of day, whether it was in the 70s outside in the morning, or 90+ in the afternoon with it on full blast. The system didn't have any leaks and I was told that it's normal for a system to lose pressure over time. Since the extra freon was added, it has not turned off unless the duct temps. get near 32-34 degrees.
That only happens in the morning when it's still relatively cool outside (below 80 degrees) and the A/C is on its lowest setting. The rest of the time the duct temps. hover around 40 degrees when its 100+ degrees outside.
You also might have a faulty A/C pressure switch. That one is a guess because it also could be a bad connection somewhere..
