as i posted before, i wrote off my 03 SS a 3 weeks ago. It is about time i start looking for another.

i have found a 03 SS, which has the 3.8, 53 k, and leather. also i have come across a 06 LT, which has the 3.5, 38 k and no leather but i nice selection of options. both cars are roughly the same price (within a grand of eachother) what do you suggest would be the better car for a university student? i do not know alot when it come to stats about monte's so any advice would be gladly appreciated

i'd go with the 03 ss, and ask them if they can lower the price any cuz its within a grand of the 06.

to me the 06 is base, doesn't have the heated leather seats which are a good option in the winter

i know the 06 is newer, but the 03 would be my choice since its fully loaded

now if you could find a v8 06, that would be the way to go

but its all your preference

 

Definitely the '03 SS!!!!!! The 3.5's suck!!!!! I have an '05 LT (which replaced the non-supercharged SS) with the 3.8. MUCH better than the 3.5. I rented a 2006 LT a while back and hated the performance compared to my LT. Handling, on the other hand is pretty nice in the '06 models, but performance still sucks.

I agree with wiz kid. With the price so close, they should be able to so better. The thing is, though, the price the '06 close to the '03 because they want to sell the '06 more. They figure that if people compare an older to new, they'd take the new...but the '03 SS, IMHO, is a better buy.

 

I voted for the '06 but reading over your post I'd go for the '03. It's a nicer car compared to the '06.

I thought I would happy with an '06 3LT (and nothing at all worng with them) but I got spoiled by the toys my LTZ has compared to the 3LT.

 

I agree with RJ on this one. I voted for the '06 until I seen the engine choice. Now if you were talking about say a 3LT or LTZ with the 3.9 V-6 then definately the '06 as the improvements all around outway not having leather etc. I love my '06 LTZ, however I couldn't drive a "base" '06 with the 3.5.

 

This is true...all the bells and whistles in the world would not make me choose the 3.5 over the 3.8 in a monte.

 

well im sold! 03 it is! the only thing is that it may be sold by the time autopac gets me my settlement. haha, anybody want to lend me a down payment for it? lol ill do my best to scrounge up some cash. i love this car..hopefully ill test drive it early next week. o, here is a pic of the 03 SS
