Default Another Bad Transmission

Finally after 110k it went out on me! Now I'm wondering, triple edge trans or get a reman? Dealer quoted me 4200 parts/labor for a reman...

I'd love to cam the Monte in the long run but as of now all I'd be working with is cai and headers...

Has anyone had a cam build or a decent build with stock trans on here? Just curious..

That's insane! My parents did a dealer reman for $2200. I would go Triple Edge for that kind of coin.

It almost feels like a price to get you out of the door and not get the work done there.

Also call around to local transmission shops (not AAMCO). The 4t65e-HD is a common one to break, and a lot of local shops might have experience in the matter.

Just for reference here...

I just got my 4t65e-hd a full overhaul and that was only 2800.

Also had to get a rebuilt transmission at 70,000 miles. GM seriously cheaped out on that transmission.

It should have never had the 4t65e-HD. GM knew that the trans topped out at 300hp, and definitely should have mated these cars to the 4L80E

You hit the nail on the head. Like Chris Rock says "There aint no money in the cure, they get you on the come back". They won't sell very many transmissions if we would have been given the correct choice to the Monte, Impala, Grand Prix etc. etc. Follow the money...

Well after searching around for price comparisons, I came across a trans shop that will rebuild mine as well as add a shift kit and cooler for 2600. Sounds like a winner to me! Just curious tho, is it better to get a rebuild or a reman??

IMO a reman is much better than a rebuilt.

Are the transmissions from triple edge performance reman tho?

I spoke to a guy and said that rebuild is best for a missed car because a reman is just a stock tranny that won't hold any power
