Default Amplifier

Where's the amp located in the 2000 SS? My system sounds tinny with no bass.

if its anything like my 01 monte, the stock amp is in the trunk in between the 2 speakers, its the silver box looking thing

Yeah it is in that same location on my 2000 LS. Open the truck and look inside on the trunk roof (Not the deck lid) and you should see the box as well as the 2 back speakers.

speaking of which, is there a aftermarket amp, that basically is plug and go?

yep, found the amp but the previous owner replaced the stock speakers with Kenwood speakers. I think I will look around for a set of stock speakers, GM always did have good stock sound but I don't know if the system is not pushing enough power or the speakers just suck.
