Aftermarket Hood
ok so ive been looking at this hood that i wanted from duraflex, for the first reason i like the way it looks, and secondly its cheaper, now here's the issue. atleast 2 people have ordered the hood and said there is some issues with it not being really symmetrical and fitting issues, have anyone else have this issue with this hood?
Duraflex® - Chevy Monte Carlo 2000-2005 Spyder 3 Style Hood
and are there any other hoods for this car?

I like the looks of that hood as well and would love one for my car I think the fitment issue is directly related to the person applying the hood. They are essentially a skin that goes over your existing hood so as with any body work the end result will ultimately be in the fitment and finishing of the body shop doing the work.

The problem with fitment (and the reason why it is cheap) is because it's 100% fiberglass. They don't hold their shape very well, and will most likely come warped.
You need someone who REALLY knows how to work with fiberglass to install that hood correctly.
The MPD-1 hood has a metal core, so it usually has better out-of-the-box fitment, so the initial cost is higher, but the install costs are cheaper.

I think it's more a combo of the car and the manufacturer. When i got a fiberglass hood for my '84 Camaro, perfect fit, no issues.
BUT, it would be best to expect issues and have a contact that can help resolve them.

The fiberglass hood on my Monte does not fit perfectly. Bought it from PFYC years back, do not remember the manufacturer of it. But again, it's something I can live with. At car shows most times the hood is up and people do not see the imperfections in the fit. And when I'm out with the car in 7 years I have never had anyone bag on me because the hood is not fitting perfectly. My friend was telling me of cars that would come from the factory with fiberglass hoods that were not perfect fits, and if you made it perfect the judges would know it was not like that from the factory and give your car lower points. So if you can live with the imperfections then go for it. Mine was about $1300 for the hood, shipping and the body shop to paint and install it.

I believe that same Josh is here (he refers to his Monte as Monroe).
If I recall he got the hood from a similar donor car he purchased. So if I an right he did not work with it brand new/unpainted, but did have to work with swapping it between cars.
