Advice on a code
Watsup guys. So today I got out the obd to check the codes for my service engine light soon light. It came up as p0401 and p0440. These both relate to the same problem, insufficient flow through the EGR. I am wondering if I should get it checked out, and maybe some suggestions to what the problem may be. I don't know if it would be something as simple as a clog, or something more serious. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks to all of you great people. =)
My car is a '97 Monte LS. I don't know if anyone knows about any common problems with this part or not, because I haven't heard of anything as far as I know.

Possible Solutions
With a P0440 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:
* Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the code, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
* Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses
* Inspect for damaged or disconnected hoses around the Evap purge solenoid
* Check and/or replace the sensor
* Check and/or replace the purge valve
* Have a professional use a smoke machine to detect leaks

RE: Advice on a code
Wow, thanks I'll be sure to check some of that out.. It's been on for about a month now, So I'm thinking it's not something as simple as the gas cap[8D]. Hopefully it is something cheap and easy to solve. And do you guys foresee it possibly being an expensive fix?
PS: And an update, I'm going into court on the 21st to try and get money from the lady that backed into me without insurance. I'm ready for it. I've got witness statements, and the police report said it was her fault entirely (it was), so I'm hoping it all goes smooth.
