Is there a write up with pictures (or not) that describes how to remove the front panel so I can pull out the radio and heater controls? I am about to tackle my PIE installation for my XM radio and was hoping for something a bit more detailed then what came with the adaptor (its pretty lame).

 

Ill tell you right now its an extreme pain. But first you take out the 3 screws on it, 2 by drivers side and fusebox and one by the glove box. Then make sure your steering wheel is all the way down. And begin to pull off on it. Its very delicate and tricky, but once its part way off unhook the hazard light connection behind it or it will break and make it not work, which you wont notice till your 30 miles from home. So once thats all off theres some bolts holding on the radio player, take em out and there. Now put it back together the same way.

 

Thanks. I will be really careful. I am still waiting on the arrival of my VSM mount so I think I will wait and get everything done in one shot. I was going to install the PIE adaptor but if its a PITA I would rather do it once.

 

How does the soft rubber like padding surrounding the key hole need to be removed?

 

I tried to download a page of pictures and instructions but it said it was too large .pm me and I can e-mail. the rubber housing stays on just the hard plastic faceplate needs to come off

 

once you get back there, do me a favor and tell me whether there is either a 3.5 mm- or rca- in auxiliary jack back there?

 

Just pops off with a screwdriver.
