Default AC Hose is leaking oil

Ok, I went to change my oil in my 01 monte LS and when i crawled under the car i noticed that there was like a green oil substance leaking from the AC Hose that goes from the compressor to the drier bottle. Everything else is dry but that one hose..Well, it is easy to replace the hose, but my QUESTION is do i need to take it to a shop and have the system evacuated? Or can i just drain it out myself? I want to do it right but dont want to spend alot of usless money...Well, just let me know, thanks phil

Default RE: AC Hose is leaking oil

in the old days we used to just crack the line open and vent it out to the air. not the case any more. with the R-12 systems.

But our cars actually have 134a
i dont know for sure is if it will have tohave it evaced after the repair So as faras before im not sure either. but im betting it would have to be. the last thing you want is mold in to it IT STINKS!!! not to mention the health risk.

If it was my car i would try cleaning the area up and then check to make sure the connection is tight. and also do a soap bubbel test on it to make sure it is the leacking hose or if nothign hasent just leaked and landed on it and makeing it look this way.

I do also know you can buy the 134a from autozone now and im betting tha thtey will have some kind of kit for takign it out also.
So ya might check that also.

But like i siad the R-12 is illegel to vent to the apnesphier.
