Well I checked as much of the fuel system as i could and even had an old family friend whos a GM mechanic check it out and everything is in proper working condition. I finaly sat down and did the math on paper with the exact miles 183 miles down 17 miles in town and 183 miles back with a total of 383 miles and using 9 gallons of gas gives me a final total of 42.55 Miles per Gallon. I dont know how to explain it. There was very little traffic on the interstate and some nice long coasts. My tires were inflated to exact specifications and Ive had my SLP CAI on for a few months now bringing my avg mpgs up to 27.2 and its still climbing. But im not going to complain lol

 

Those are pretty good numbers. my best was 34 on a road trip last summer. Just gotta have optimum conditions, Weather, traffic, speed and rpms.

What was your average `Speed ? Did you draft behind a large truck ? What was the weather like ? Do you have deacitvation cylinders management to run on 2 cylinders ?
It's just amaz'in 2 get 50 MPG's....Was the trip all down hill ?

if every thing is kept in great condition as keeping every thing babied as in doing mantenence on time and things like that. as well as driving normally no high i mean high rpms around 3k to 3500k rpms of corse you will get great mpg. the engine isnt working as hard when properly mantained
