Default 3800 Series III

Took the LTZ in today for some warranty work. The dealer finally cut loose with a loaner.

They gave me an '06 LaCrosse with the 3800 Series III engine.

Pretty weak engine I must say compared to the 3900.

My Mother has a 2006 Allure (Canadian name for the LaCrosse) and it has the 3800 in it. Feels very similar to my old 2001 MC with the 3800. Both are rated at 200hp. I often wondered how the 3.9 compared. Now I know.
Thanks Grampa Dave.

My 03 had a 3.8L in it....
The 3.9L will blow it away......

The 3.9L has no problems keeping up with some of the smaller V-8's

We have an 07 Mustang with a 4.0L in it and the Monte walks away from it with no problems what so ever
4.0L is rated at 211 hp at the rear wheels.

Wiz, there are a few of us 3.9'ers here that are just as curious as you.[sm=gears.gif][sm=gears.gif]

I guess IMHO it's common sense that the 3.9 would be faster....242 compared to 200.

yah, i think the 3.8 supercharged though is 240?? so its right close to the 3.9 l hp wise...and then the mods are so easy to do to the 3.8 superchaged engine.. so it should be pretty easy to get it over 300 hp
