2015 Monte Carlo??
If GM ever decides to bring back the Monte Carlo, they need to follow a few guidelines:
-RWD
-DON'T represent a Holden model
-LS Engine
-Optional 6 Speed
-DON'T make it resemble a new Camaro's body style
-Follow Monte Carlo body features: Curved fenders, vertical tails, etc..
-DON'T make it look like any other current vehicle, make it look like a Monte Carlo
-For the LOVE OF GOD, MAKE IT A MONTE CARLO!!!
-oh, and lastly, DON'T MAKE IT TO RESEMBLE A DIFFERENT CAR OTHER THAN A MONTE CARLO!!!

The things we all want in a new monte(rwd, v8, standard, etc.) In a nutshell we just want a Camaro with a monte body.
the 2 door segment is too crowded for chevy to enter it unless they wanted to hit the brz frz head on although that alpha platform from the ats (cts as well) would make a good small 2 door sports car but thats the frame for the up coming camaro suposedly...
They could hit the 2 series bmw hard though if they wanted to revive the luxury coupe class that only the thunderbird monte ever really captured. (small market though)

2015 Impala Coupe SS
this is another idea for the Resurection of the Monte Carlo.
Since the Camaro is downsizing and slowly becoming more "tuner" than anything, I could see a full size coupe coming to market. And what better name than Monte Carlo.

That looks Great. But Chevy already has some competition with the Corvette and Camaro RTX I think it is. Also as Montes go, this one is missing some trunk space that is part of the Monte Heritage.
I don't think that will be It. Iv seen some concepts and its supposed to be built on a bigger manaro chasis. But its going to be lighter than even our 6th gens supposedly. Thats a big IF it happens.
Normally I don't follow these rumors because I really got my hopes up and was let down when the Code 130R disappeared off everyone's radar.
These concepts are cool, and I'd love to see the MC resurected, but I won't keep my hopes so high up.

GM used the Holden Monaro, re-badged it as a GTO. I actually love that car, BUT, I was not a big follower of the GTO's history (so I like it for what it was, not the family of car it represents).
The Monte has some things I think would be important in order to bring the name plate back. Some items were already mentioned. Tops on my list:
- Keep the signature curved body lines (something the 5th gen Montes were robbed of)
- Keep the vertical tail lights (again, something not as well done on the 5th gens)
- Keep a Knights Crest on it (something the 5th gen and the '06/07 years lost)
- Ensure there is still an SS trim level and performance package (I don't care if it's a v8, a turbo v6, just make sure it's something worthy of having an SS badge, obviously a 3800 did the trick for a while)
- Keep it 2 door
My fears:
- Since the car was out of production for so long, they will re-badge a car not quite fitting of being called a Monte Carlo. I could care less if it's shared with GM's Holden line up, but I fear they will slap badging on a car to try and rally new support for the name not the legacy.
- Even if they bring the name back, even if they do it well, it won't have the backing it was.
- GM will do what GM often does.... They are a kid that can't keep a secret, they will finally get serious about a come back, they will talk about it for 3-4 years, flash some concept art work, maybe concept car, but in the 3-4 years of talking about it, loose the "thrill" people had (people will move on to something else). GM did it with the Solstice and even the Camaro (but the Camaro had enough history and fans and was the first thing to truly re-enter competition again with a Mustang, people actually waited, but it took about 3 years from the first concept release until you could get it at a dealership). 1 year, you show the concept and a year later the wait should be over.

I've said in previous years that they should just let the nameplate rest in peace unless they want to pay the car its proper respects. It seems like this group is the only one that wants to bring back a name plate... '57 Bel Air guys don't want Chevrolet to bring back the Bel Air... the old Impala guys werne't too crazy about the return of the Impala either....
A Camaro is a proper car... like a Corvette, it has always been a 2 door, RWD, performance car. Monte's have been kicked around a little... making us FWD cars in the 90s and 2000s did them enough disrespect!
Although, it wouldn't cost GM much money to rebadge a Holden as a Monte, put it on the Zeta platform, where many parts would be shared between the SS and the Monte or the Monte and the Camaro... switching factories over from to another wouldn't take much effort. It's plausible.
