Default 2006 Monte SS 5.3l V8 performance questions

I am a mustang guy considering a 2006 Monte SS with the v8. I wanted a 2004 Mustang Mach 1 but since I live in Pittsburgh with bad winters the mach 1 does not do well in snow. Bear in mind right now I own a 2004 v6 convertible that I had dyno at 285hp after a bunch of upgrades. My question to all you hardcore Chevy guys is how will the 06 SS V8 compare in performance to a 4.6 mustang gt or 03/04 mach 1 on the road. I highly appreciate any comments to aid me in my decision.

The biggest difference is that you don't see a thousand LS4's every time you drive down the street Mustangs are by far the most common performance car, I'd bet more so than LT1/LS1 Trans Ams, LT1/LS1 Camaros and even LS4 Montes combined. Given that I do not know very much about the LS4 or Mustangs so I'll leave that to some of the 2006+ monte owners to chime in about!

ahhh the 'M' word!! :O

okay my opinions:
first off my gramps 04 'm' word can't touch my monte.
add a k&n intake, some magnaflows, no possible way a 'm' will take you.
like above stated, just look at the monte!! You don't see many 7th gen. SS montes around, and 'm''s are EVERYWHERE!!
plus in my book montes look sooo much better.
the fwd will be the only thing different you might not like, although drive one, and you really won't care that's it's FWD especially when winter comes along
Monte SS all the way man!!

I agree with the K&N, althought mufflers won't get you and real power, you can do other mods like self porting, and there's a turbo kit also, but that's starting to spend a bit of money.

Well my Mustang Guru friend says a stock V8 Monte SS and the Supercharged V6 will not compete with or beat a stock Mach 1 Mustang as it has a dual overhead cam, 4 valve per cylinder, over 300 hp with out bolt on's, and is lighter and rear wheel drive. He says he just doesn't see it happening.
You will really need to pump a few dollars into your Monte to get up there.
Our Monte's uniqueness is what will set you apart from the Pony's as our car's are becoming more and more rare as production ceased about 4 years ago.... It's not always about being the fastest.....
