Default 2001 LS Intake Sensors for CAI?

Hey y'all

So I'm interested in installing a CAI for my 2001 Monte LS but have run into a few uncertainties before purchasing. First off, here is the new intake I was planning on buying:
https://www.carid.com/2001-chevy-mon...377130380.html

CarID says it guarantees fitment with my car, but after looking at the few pictures of the product compared with my stock intake, I don't see where the MAF sensor would go. Do I just mount it in between the air filter and the chrome pipe? I feel like that wouldn't look right and I assume I can't just remove it altogether. I also don't know what the rubber plug to the right of the intake air temp sensor is, or where it would be located on the new intake. The product pictures only show a hole for the IAT sensor. Am I missing something?

I am a newbie to intake systems so any advice would help!

TIA!

Well, if youre set on using that intake youll just need to buy an extra coupler it looks like. One that fits the MAF and pipe however... Thats what they call a warm air intake. You wont gain any power, only a bit of sound. Maybe even lose power.

Youre better off buying that cheap intake piping from autozone or ebay and building your own into the fender or front bumper. Much cheaper also.

Theres only one company (cold air inductions) I think (other than K&N which is garbage) that makes a direct fit CAI but theres is almost $300 I think. It might also only be for the 3800 to..?

If you do go the DIY route youll need to be prepared to drill and grommet a place for that vac line next to the intake temp sensor as well as the intake temp sensor.

Another option (if youre uncomfortable drilling+sealing) is leave that rubber flex pipe where its at and just add pipe and filter going into the fender. People dont like that tho cause its ugly.

Theres this, which is overpriced imo but it gives you an idea how simple it can be. Just a heat resistant tube with a filter. Thats if youre gonna leave that rubber flex pipe in place.

Can I ask why you removed your cruise control?

Thanks for the tips! I wonder why that air intake says it fits with my monte as it says "vehicle specific." Does the idea of a CAI mean removing the MAF or relocating it? I'll consider the intake you linked; you said to use it with the stock intake tube, so do I just attach the new tube on the end of that one?

On the topic of the cruise control, I always wondered what that loose cable was and it makes sense that it's the cruise control. Im pretty sure that the LS montes don't come with cruise control, at least mine doesn't. Why it has the cables for it I have no idea.
