Default 1970-1971 Monte Carlo SS

I am wondering why I am unable to locate (on-line) or in Hemmings any 1970-1971 Monte Carlo SS (454)Cars for sale? Is there something I do not know? Seems odd to me. Are there just not that many out there? What can someone/anyone tell me about these cars & their availability. What would I expect to pay for a decent/fair conditioned one?
Are they just in high demand so when they are for sale they go quick?

Well the biggest thing you will fight with that is alot of folks dont even know they have the SS cars from 70-72
they are the 454 cars but they also offerd the 454 in other versions also.
but no there really wernt alot of them around to begin with. It took me years to find mine when i found it i walked in to it by mistake. they sold it as a big block monte carlo and had no clue what it was. i paid 400.00 for it and restored it .
I just wish i could say i still had it. but the Ex got it alnog with the other stuff .
keep looking for it you will find them
the easiest thing i can say is do a serch on them and learn how to read a vin tag so you know what to look for and look for those options . then go looking threw ever monte carlo of 1970 that you can find for sale.
Also try looking up 1969 monte carlos.
i know they wernt made till 70 but some folks tend to think the 70 was actually a 69. becuse they were introduced in late 69 not 70.

Thanks - from the research I've done - it appears that the SS (454) is not noted in the vin code. But for it to be a true SS/454 Monte (1970-1971) the engine code must match the numbers in the vin production code.
I love the 70-72 Monte Carlo's and would LOVE to have one of true SS cars of those 2 years it was available. I am just not sure what I should expect to pay or how easy it will be to find one. A regular 70-72 MC seems easy to find but not the true SS which is why I am stumped. Maybe it is too hard to find or no one really wants them anymore so since there was no big demand most are gone? I don't know....
Or if I do find one I should expect it to be pricey???

Anyone else?

want to sa the last one i saw was in Montgomery AL. the guy had it complelty redone but it was not forsale.
he claimed he had over 10-k in to it to get it in show condition.

as far as what you will pay that kind of comes down to what they know they have or dont have, \

I have seen camaros go for nothing becuse they folks that had them thought they were just the avrage car and never thought to look at the vin code to find out someplace along the line the badgeing was taken off and they didnt titel the car as a RS/SS
like i said the biggest thing to do is reserch the livving crap out of them and figure out the options that were in those cars.
Mine had power everything in it
windows,locks,steering, brakes, cruse,AC
and also came from the factory with his and hers sun roofs and bucket seats with the shifter on the floor .

also if it says it is on the floor it is a good chance it is a SS 0or if not it is at least a full option or almost full option car.
they didnt do the center councils in them as offten as you would think. when they came out they were just a bench seat and a steerign wheel .
if i hear of anythign or see anything i will let ya know but i live in San Antonio Tx. so depending on where your at it could be a drive.
i have see alot of first gens here. still havent found a 3rd gen like i want here:-(
but hey i can live with it right now have to get the house built and yadda yadda first.
still trying to find a job worth working for the wage they want to pay . that seems to rare also LOL
