06 SS Gas Mileage
Not sure what my 3.9 is getting?
Maybe I should drive the car more? Right now I'm trying to get it a space in the garage for it's winter nap.
It's h--l having to tear to cars apart so I can get rid of what's left. But with three other cars that parts off these two will fit, it only makes sense to keep that can be used on the others.

That really depends on how you look at it, and more importantly how you drive. From my experiences, a V6 doesn't get much better mileage compared to any given V8 of the same era. The big difference becomes if you are driving with your foot to the floor all the time.
I'm no Corvette expert, but don't they get around 30mpg or so? Most mid-full size 6cyl cars are lucky to get that these days with no where near the power. I won't even touch the subject of trucks' mileage - its only horrible because they can get away with it.

If you take a v6 & v8 and run the crap out of both all the time, the v6 is still going to return better mileage. My 3.9 in my '06 gets almost 30mpg on the highway!! The 5.3 V-8 in the SS doesn't get but maybe 25mpg on the highway, this from people I've talked with who have one.
I agree - if you "run the crap" out of them it is only natural the 6 will get a little better mileage than the 8, but the difference in power is usually greater than the difference in mileage.
And if 25mpg is all a new SS can muster, that is pretty bad relative to other cars. The 4th gen SS's were rated (and got) 24mpg on the highway with now 20 year old technology carb'd V8 engines.

Again, welcome to the world of owning a V-8. This is exactly why I didn't get an SS. Everyone I talked with prior to my purchase stated that they were not getting anywhere near what they are rated for.

i didn't get my V8 to get 30+ mpg.. i got it for the power of theV8 HP and sound. If i wanted a MPG car i would go get a 4 banger honda er something.. NOT.. i think it's great i'm getting in the low 20's in town and 25+ highway. thats freegin sweet for a V8. compare that to any other V8 and thats GOOOOD.. you V6 guys may get a few MPG more than us V8 guys, but i could care less.. you have a V6, i didn't want a V6.. wanted more power, sound, and to know i have a 8 under the hood. not that i get 3 MPG more.. lol i have a V8 in a car i LOVE to drive.. thats what matters..
