Default 06 SS Gas Mileage

I have an 06 SS with just over 7000 miles on it and I'm only getting 15.9 mpg. The EPA ratings are 18 to 27. What is everyone else averaging?

I also have an 06 ss with 7500 miles on it, and getting around the same with city driving, only on a long highway drives do i average between 22ond 26 mpg.
Also if you use the cruise control on the highway you will get the best milage.

Good luck

What is your driving style like? I get better mileage (16/21) in my 85 with a carb'd 350...

Yeah, I would say driving style so far.

1. Reset your overhead gauge if you are monitoring with that.
2. Make sure you keep your RPM below 3500
3. Keep your Highway below 70 MPH.

I get about 27.5 in 80* weather. Now that it's in the low 40's I'm down to 26.8. In the winter when it's around 0-15*'s it will drop to 23.5 due to warming up the car.

Also check your RPM on the Highway. You should be 2000 RPM @ 70 MPH. If your hanging out at around 2500 RPM its not in overdrive.

Also check wires to make sure they are on secure and plugs. Bring into dealer for warrantee work.

Or reset the Tripometer to zero and divide the miles you put on by the amount you put in the car.

I get over 20, up to about 24 at 65mph, at 75mph it hangs around 18. Daily commute hangs about 17/18 with typical suburban driving.
