Default 06 Monte Carlo LT

Hello everybody I have a question about my monte carlo and her future, and would like some input from those who have already done some work to there monte's. I have an 06 LT with the 3.5l v6 everything stock... This is my question. Should I save up trade in and get the v8... or should I find a locale engine shop or search ebay for a 3.8l and just do an engine swap and go from there. My engine is low milage only around 45k on it and I figure I could prob switch for a 3800 straight up if its alittle higher on the milage... Or do I stay with my engine and improve here from where she is at. Any insight, information, adivce would be greatly appreciated... btw Pulled up to an SS today heading back to base... he just looked at me and said nice car. Haha I should of been saying that to him!!!!

If you wanted a Monte with a V8, why didn't you just wait until you had enough cash to buy an SS and get one? Personally, if I were in your position I wouldn't bother with switching out the engine now. I don't think there'd be a significant difference between the 3.5 and 3800 to make it worth the cost. I've got the 3.9L V6 in my '06 Monte LT and I think it's got plenty of pickup when I want to get on it... not as much as the 5.3L V8 I'm sure, but it's pretty good.

I would just stick with what you've got and make mods from there. I think Mamonte (Michael) on this forum also has the 3.5L on his Monte. You might want to talk to him about what he's done with his car. I know he's very happy with it.

Good advice ^

Engine swaps are very costly. You've got a low mileage car... either stick with it or save up some cash and trade the car in on another model.

So then would ya say the 3.5l has a pretty decent after market? And thanks for the Advice on the engine, I just keep hearing about how good the 3.8l is and the after market for it.

Drive it how it is, until it explodes..Then get something nice.

At most with mods youll get 10-15 hp for the 3.5l..(Catback, intake etc)

You also could have found a nice 05 SS supercharged 3.8L and would be able to do tons of mods to it.

You could sell yours and buy a 2004 or 2005 SS supercharged 3.8L
